The positive side of Psychology
If someone goes to see a psychologist, it is usually assumed that something is wrong. But psychology has a very positive side as well. In fact, the field of positive psychology is the study of what it is that enables individuals and communities to thrive – and indeed find happiness. In this extended interview from the Learning Works archives, Tony Ryan speaks with Adult Educator Julia Gane about the role of positive psychology in our lives.

A Good Read – with Sarah Knight

Sarah Knight from the Salisbury Library Service has chosen to review Kabul Beauty School: An American Woman goes behind the Veil, by Deborah Rodriguez and published in 2007 by Random House. Deborah's life has led to her making the decision to join a volunteer service being deployed to Afghanistan around 2001.  Deborah's marriage had broken down and she was looking for a way to make a significant contribution to the lives of those in need. After joining a humanitarian volunteer organization and leaving the USA bound for Afghanistan, she was soon immersed in a completely different culture. The Kabul Beauty School not only changed the lives of the women of Post-Taliban Afghanistan, but also the life of Deborah Rodriguez herself.
