Adult Learning in Action
US Army Education - learning worldwide

We hear daily reports about wars in various parts of the world, but we rarely hear of the support systems in place, for example, assisting military personnel to pursue studies no matter where they are in this world. Dr Grey Edwards, recently appointed national president of the American Association for Adult and Continuing Education has over 30 years experience in working with military personnel and their families to continue study, often from far distant locations.

Neighbours - Part 1

We all want to live in a quiet neighbourhood with nice neighbours who cause us no problems. However it doesn’t always work out that way. Maybe its loud music, or car doors slamming while we’re try to sleep, or noisy machinery at all hours. So what can be done? Greg Waller, Director of Development and Environmental Services with the City of Salisbury has some good advice about some legal issues around neighbours. Seven Minute Legal is produced with assistance from the Law Foundation of SA.

Neighbours - Part 2

In this second of two programs, the focus is on those neighbours who leave their disused washing machines and fridges in their front yard, or who start a small business which then causes parking problems and other inconveniences for the neighbours. Greg Waller, Director of Development and Environmental Services with the City of Salisbury has some good advice about some legal issues around neighbours. Social Capital and Lifelong Learning

This interview focuses on the concept of social capital and current developments in adult education in the European Union. Professor Chris Duke is Professor of Regional Learning and Partnership at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, and Honorary Professor of Lifelong Learning at the Universities of Stirling in Scotland and Leicester in England.

Health Wellbeing and Relationships
Supporting Men

The Christmas and New Year period can be a time of high expectations, but also of family stress. A project in Elizabeth in SA provides support to fathers, and especially at this time of year, to men separated and possibly socially isolated because of family breakdown. Tony Ryan speaks to Michael Evans, a community support worker for men, and also to Hayden and Mick about men and social isolation.
