It’s a Legal Matter – Behind the Wheel

The first of three short community education programs on some of the legal issues around driving a motor vehicle. Topics include getting a licence, knowing the road rules, what to do in case of accidents, insurance responsibilities, and driving responsibly. Contributors include Martin Small from the SA Department of Transport (and SA’s Registrar of Motor Vehicles), Sergeant John Illingworth (SA Police) and Donna Benge (Legal Associate, Tindall Gast Bentley in Adelaide) This three-part series is produced with support from the Law Foundation of South Australia.

Could you imagine our world without memory? Few people leave school planning to be an archivist – many archivists say they are “accidental archivists”! So what is an archive, and what is the role of an archivist? In this half hour program, recorded in Alice Springs during the recent National Conference of the Australian Society of Archivists, Tony Ryan finds out about the work of those people and organisations working to maintain and develop large and small archives in Australia.

In the nomination form for the award of Adult Educator of the Year in SA, Debbie Jeanes was described as a dedicated and outstanding educator who is held in high regard by all of the tutors and students with whom she works at the Aberfoyle Community Centre. In this repeat broadcast of this item, Tony Ryan visits the Centre and speaks with Debbie about her work as an award-winning adult educator. Also contributing to the program are Centre Coordinator Ellen Jezierski, and Izumi, a student from Japan who participates in the cooking classes that also help with her learning of English.
